Via Dolorosa- Bishop Hermes

Walk do we sluggishly
Dragging our mistakes shortcomings regrets
Ever so slow and closely behind
Pleading that it will not
Come along side or skip ahead
Our crosses displaying the horrendous
For the multitudes to see and scoff at
They drat through there clenched teeth
Not understanding they will soon
Too be on exhibit
But what will our Golgotha render us
Who won’t break then fad away
Our crosses will transfigure
The grotesque into the beauteous
If we embrace them without buffering
And find our hope as we travel down
The way of suffering

The next addiction – Bishop Hermes

Oh that we create addictions

for ourselves and for others

blissful euthanasias we so leisurely strive for

oh create another so that i may

add yet one more habit to my repertoire

we deform to preserve life

as it lackadaisically slips through our hands

and we endeavor not to become statistics

yet most die to be another one

the impatience is killing me

how long shall i wait for my next addiction

[Bishop Hermes is an exceptional poet/musician who came to Sudden Denouement with strong recommendation from Sperantia Zavala. We are excited to have him contributing and feel strongly about his poetic vision and look forward to a fruitful collaboration.]

“I know you” said the desperate one to her that descants alluring scores
For the feeble hearted are callously drawn in only to be mutilated and buried evermore
For she like the swarthy widow spins webs for fools flight towards ecstasy
As they glide in blinded hope of their heart being harmoniously joined only to end in entropy
And they live in these rings of quandaries
Unable to escape and unaware of its boundaries
And most will waste away and wonder off into nothingness
And they along with the half wits that make it out would all speak of no regrets

I thought he was long gone
dead or departed i had almost forgotten
he’s been watching waiting
for a misstep or stumble
he lies in wait with no sound nor mumble
he thrice tried to slay me
probably more my souls a whore
he bid me with enticing schemes
coerced me to believe foolish dreams
then crushed me with reality
I’ve sensed him lately
though i would not believe it
he’s been baiting me
awaiting a chance to trounce me
but i see him plainly now
the curtain is dropped the guise is spoiled
he’s gone now and i can see clearer
though he was never far
when i looked in the mirror
