in patient.

Anthony “Grumpy” Gorman/Hands in the Garden

hands in the garden

in patient 2

one dreaded, shredded
day with
no end.

tasted, wasted
hasted, then

aching shake
for basic feeling

brain chain
rearrange sick
chemistry

creeps of sutured sleeps
punctured precious
wounds of
winter shame

cold,night-naked
rake still

more twisted bone
than flaking
flesh

breath coils crosses
round quiet-tight
throat

mercy’s weeping
angel hovers
close
