The Waiting Room- Georgia Park

How awkward is it to wait with my boyfriend

in a doctor’s office when the chances of me being pregnant

are 50/50? Not very. We set a timer that reaches

almost 40 minutes. I sit on his lap and he sings.

I wear a gown that ties in the back

three times over but still shows my ass

and I pose for pictures in it,

I think damn, I don’t look half bad.

Georgia Park is the creator of Private Bad Thoughts, curator of Whisper and the Roar a feminist literary collective, and a writer for Sudden Denouement. She is a wonderful poet with an enormous heart. We can’t imagine this journey without her. Please check out more of her wonderful work.

  1. I can’t tell you how much of a fan I have always been of Georgia. There is no one like her. Early on, Georgia would create a blog, take it down and change her name. Every time she did, I would find her writing and heap praise on her. It took me a while to figure out that it was the same person. She has some special that will always draw me to her writing. It is so wonderful to see this post. Thank you Georgia for how much you inspired and encouraged me early on with SD. You were one of the first. Always a special place in my heart.
