Dragonflies-Georgia Park/Private Bad Thoughts

A collective of fictional poetry by anonymous contributors

you have jewels in your eyes
and your voice is filled with dragonflies
and you don’t know this
but i’ll refuse to see you
unless I have access to a window

it’s all the buzzing
and the gleaming
that confuses me
I need to look
away at something
to take you in wholly

I can only take you
in the second degree.

my mentor told me
that when you sleep
with a person
you embed some shards
of your soul
that they take with them.

she warned me
not to sleep with too many
lest I have too little soul left
to put into my poetry

but I wonder
if it’s a reciprocal thing
because, as long as I’m leaving
I wouldn’t have minded
taking a piece of you with me
