The filth of memories

Nicole Lyons at her best.

The Lithium Chronicles

I swear I was clean before you came blazing in,
guns firing hot, bursting into me
with pain so sweet
that I begged for a slow death.
But you stole the sweet
ache from my bones
and left the savage bits of you behind,
spraying them all over my world.
They blot out the sun,
and leave me with a forever night.
They crawl over me, inside of me,
and consume me with the filth of memories.
And they whisper
about this slow death
and how I should be careful
what I wish for.
